Energy Observer received a hydrogen molecule… produced in France!

1-7 December 2025

Our partner Groupe Qair symbolically presented us with the first renewable hydrogen molecule produced as part of the Hyd'Occ project, the largest renewable hydrogen production facility in France.

Energy Observer made a stopover at Port-la-Nouvelle to support our partner Qair on the occasion of the inauguration of its offshore wind farm, a key milestone for the development of renewable energies in the Mediterranean.

This stopover was also an opportunity to collect a powerful symbol of the transition underway: the very first hydrogen molecule produced at Qair's Port-la-Nouvelle facility, a meaningful gift that concretely embodies the solutions we are exploring at sea and on land.

Hyd'Occ in figures:

  • 20 MW capacity in phase 1
  • Production targeting 2,700 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year
  • A link in the zero-emission European corridor
  • 27,000 tonnes of CO₂ avoided every year

Our teams also had the opportunity to discover Eolmed, a pilot floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Port-la-Nouvelle. 3 turbines producing 110 million kWh per year, 600,000 hours of work generated in the Occitanie region: a model that proves maritime innovation and local economic impact can go hand in hand.
