Restoring the Link Between Understanding and action
Climate change is accelerating, yet the maritime, industrial, and civil worlds remain deeply siloed. Information has become complex, technical, or controlled by a handful of insiders. The human stories, faces, and emotions that make the energy transition real and urgent are too often missing. This void breeds inaction or resignation. We exist to close it.
Demystify the energy transition.
Humanize knowledge.
Amplify concrete solutions.
THE VALUES BEHIND OUR ACTIONS
Driven by our passion for the sea, the Energy Observer Foundation connects understanding, emotion, and action : we transform the lessons of the expedition into accessible, meaningful insights, opening up subjects too long reserved for experts, and making the energy transition something everyone can engage with. Our mission is to mobilize a new generation of changemakers: to inspire young people, citizens, associations, businesses, and institutions; to accelerate decarbonization, particularly in the maritime world; and to build, together, a desirable future for energy and ocean activities. Because awareness without action is not enough, and action without understanding doesn't last.
We stimulate creativity and emotions so that the challenges posed by the energy and maritime transition can become accessible and engaging.
We simplify complex knowledge to ensure that everyone can understand and fully participate in decarbonization.
We are mobilizing all stakeholders, from young people to institutions, to work together towards an sustainable future in terms of energy.
We fulfill our duty to protect the planet by promoting sustainable actions within our projects.
3 PILLARS TO CREATE A VIRTUOUS CYCLE
Inspire: Spark the desire to take action
By using powerful images, stories, and aesthetics, Energy Observer Foundation draws attention on the issues of energy transition, making them visible, tangible, and understandable, to inspire emotion and awareness. This mission expresses itself through the contents produced and shared during the expedition: films, features, editorial series, educational formats, and interactive experiences. By presenting concrete solutions and inspiring examples, these contents fuel the collective imagination and paves the way for action.
- Hosting artists on-board in the artist residency to create sensitive and accessible stories
- Production of audiovisual content (documentaries, podcasts, features) in order to humanize the transition
- Creation and distribution of accessible content (books, shorter formats, educational materials)
MOBILIZE: CREATE THE RIGHT CONDITIONS FOR COMMITMENT
The fund provides opportunities for people to meet, learn, and discuss ways to get involved and encourage collective action. This mobilization takes the form of concrete and accessible initiatives deployed across different regions: Energy Observer exhibition village, the Cube, and guided tours of the ship. Designed to be fun, educational, and interactive, these events allow citizens, students, professionals, and decision-makers to meet, discuss, and engage around solutions for the energy transition.
- Educational programs for 15-25 year-olds (games, case studies, practical challenges)
- Hosting associations and field workers in villages or onboard
- Citizen science programs: air quality, water quality, environmental data (as of 2028)
- Conferences, workshops, cross-disciplinary debates
Empowering people : supporting their efforts.
In addition to raising awareness and encouraging action, the fund aims to support the emergence of a new generation of change makers capable of playing a long-term role in the energy transition. This ambition translates into support for research, training, and inclusion in transition-related professions, as well as the promotion of career paths and initiatives that contribute to improving practices. The fund seeks to create favorable conditions so that individual and collective commitment can turn into a concrete and lasting impact.
- Support for research on energy and maritime transition (as of 2028)
- Training programs, competitions, summer schools, awards
- Career guidance and career change programs for green and maritime professions (as of 2028)
- Actions to increase the number of women in scientific and maritime professions
- Practical teaching tools (guides, practical fact sheets, micro-learning)
