Brest Stopover: back to our roots, heading for decarbonization

From 9 to 15 March, Energy Observer makes a stopover in Brest, the very place where the laboratory vessel came to life. A milestone that is both symbolic and operational, open to partners, local stakeholders and the general public.

A strategic stopover on the way to Northern Europe

After sailing the Mediterranean and along the French Atlantic coastline, Energy Observer is now heading for Northern Europe. Brest naturally stands out as a key stop along this route, an opportunity to meet partners, institutional players, and industrial and economic stakeholders from the region.

Brest: the birthplace of Energy Observer

It was in Brest that the vessel was found abandoned, before being fully transformed into the iconic laboratory vessel it is today, at the forefront of the energy transition. Returning here as part of this new expedition carries a resonance that is at once operational, territorial and historical.

Concrete exchanges around maritime decarbonization

Energy Observer aims to open the vessel to its partners, share the experiments carried out on board EO1, and present technologies tested under real-world conditions. On-board visits, navigations and discussion sessions will fuel the dialogue around concrete solutions to accelerate decarbonization, particularly in the maritime sector.

The immersive exhibition cube

The stopover will be accompanied by the deployment of our immersive exhibition cube: a modular, open and accessible space, designed to raise awareness among the general public, school groups and stakeholders about the challenges of the energy transition and maritime decarbonization.

It combines educational content, storytelling and digital tools, and can also host partner meetings or convivial moments.
