Solar energy is the primary source of energy for our laboratory vessel. This energy is converted into electricity, then stored on board. How have photovoltaic technologies evolved over the last 6 years? Explanations with Luc Bourserie, onboard systems engineer.

For the first time since the vessel's launch in 2017, the hydrogen tanks on board Energy Observer were removed from their casings for an inspection of the entire high-pressure circuit. This operation kept the team on its toes for over 3 days in Cape Town, South Africa.

From the 4th to the 24th of February 2023, Energy Observer Foundation's exhibition village was set "On top of positive energies" in Avoriaz. An opportunity to assess how electric and hydrogen mobility can contribute to limiting the carbon footprint of a day of skiing.

During long navigations, energy is precious and every kWh counts to allow our crew to reach their destination. Slowing down our average speed is often the best way to save energy and extend our autonomy.

Our educational exhibition will be open during the 12th edition of the Route du Rhum in Saint-Malo, being powered by GEH2® electro-hydrogen units. A great first!

It took us 8 days of sailing to reach Thailand from Singapore. Facing the absence of sun and wind for 5 days, hydrogen once again proved to be an indispensable ally in the ship's energy mix!

In 2021, Energy Observer has broken its record for the longest navigation! Back on 15 000 nautical miles of navigation, from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean.

Our vessel left Noumea on November 13, heading for Kupang, Indonesia. A tough navigation told by our captain Jean-Baptiste Sanchez, who led our crew off the Great Barrier Reef.

Energy Observer's first transpacific journey has ended after 25 days at sea with changing but generally favourable weather conditions.

The weather conditions were quite challenging for the beginning of our very first transpacific!

Our new interactive and immersive exhibition village was presented for the first time during "Le Paris de l'hydrogène" at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, from May 20 to 30. The highlight of the event? Lighting up the Eiffel Tower with green hydrogen.
