Victorien Erussard is appointed first French ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through its Odyssey for the Future, the Energy Observer crew will go out to meet actors and projects innovating for a more sustainable future, setting them in the broader context of the SDGs, to demonstrate that concrete action for sustainable development knows no borders.
The Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition’s concrete support for Energy Observer
The Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition, which supports the project’s global initiative and its openness to the world, named Victorien Erussard as the first French ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals.
Energy Observer, the first hydrogen vessel to sail around the world, is more than just a boat. It is a demonstrator and a solution sensor. It creates a future that is already here. It is a long term evolving project that generates a wave of positive energies and is an incredible showcase of new innovations in the field of ecological and energy transition. I am thrilled that Victorien Erussard, captain of Energy Observer, has become the first French ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The Ministry of the Ecological and Inclusive Transition thus becomes an institutional partner of the project, in order to support the crew in identifying and promoting concrete solutions for a sustainable future.
True innovations, those that count, are the result of a paradigm shift and people's aspirations. This is the reason for the participation of the Ministry of the Ecological and Solidarity Transition and of Nicolas Hulot beside Energy Observer. The Agenda 2030 sets a framework within which the countries commit to transform our world which invites us to think together, in a spirit of solidarity, inviting everyone to take his share of responsibility for a future decided by all. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are developed in this context. This departure from Marseille and for the Odyssey for the future is an important moment for us, because Victorien Erussard is the first French ambassador of these SDGs. With the entire Energy Observer team, they will embody the entire challenge of meeting, sharing, and tolerance.
The Sustainable Development Goals: 17 Goals to Transform Our World
Which novelty with the SDGs?
The 17 objectives are universal and interconnected. Applicable on all 5 continents, adaptable to each local situation, they represent a shared vision for all countries in terms of path to take for the next 15 years. States, local authorities and international community, companies, NGOs, civil society and citizens: all are invited to seize the SDGs and implement them in their local field of action, by favoring partnerships between stakeholders to accomplish these goals.
The Odyssey for the Future: present and represent the SDGs
Energy Observer, through its documentary series the Odyssey for the Future, wishes to bring forward those who already act for a cleaner future and highlight their links with the various SDGs.
We want to make people dream to increase awareness. To prove that man can live in harmony with nature and that the ecological transition opens the way to a new economic boom. The promise of a better world. The Mediterranean is a mini representation of the global ocean. It is one of the places on earth where the effects of climate change are the easiest to observe, but it is also a breeding ground for solutions. A highly symbolic region, which helps to remind us that we are all developing countries.
